13 policemen deployed to guard His Holiness at Bodh Gaya suspended for negligence

DHARAMSALA, Jan 3: Thirteen policemen deployed to guard His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Bodh Gaya were suspended for negligence on Wednesday by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Gaya.
Garima Malik, the SSP of Gaya who monitors the security arrangements for the Tibetan spiritual leader has suspended the 13 policemen after they went missing from their assigned positions, reports The Hindustan Times.
The police officer has further said that she will not tolerate any lapse in security arrangements for the Tibetan Nobel laureate, according to the report.
The Centre as well as Bihar’s state government has provided His Holiness with Z+ security protection, the highest security category of India in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the India Home Ministry.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Gaya on Jan 2 and will stay for 40 days in the holy city of Bodhgaya for a series of religious teachings and engagements.
The Tibetan spiritual leader’s first teaching that is scheduled from Jan 5 to 7 will be on Dharmachakra Parivaretan Sutra on The Four Noble and Sutra on Dependent Origination at the request of Nalanda Shiksha.
On Jan 7, His Holiness will attend a book release ceremony with Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
From Jan 14 to 16, the Dalai Lama will give teachings on Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhichitta and Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo’s Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva. His Holiness will also confer the Avalokiteshvera Initiation on the mornings of January 15 and 16.
Devotees from Mongolia and Namgyal monastery will jointly offer a long-life prayer ceremony on Jan 16 and His Holiness will also consecrate a newly built Thai Monastery on Jan 25.
