Annual North America Regional Tibetan Youth Congress meet held in Madison

DHARAMSALA, June 30: The Fourteenth Annual Working Committee meeting of North America Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (NARTYC) was held from June 28-29, 2014 in Madison, Wisconsin.

Representatives from seven regions – San Francisco, Seattle, Minnesota, Toronto, Capital Area, Wisconsin and New York/New Jersey attended the two-day meeting joined by local area Tibetan community members.Nartycgroup

Karma Yeshi, former TYC Centrex executive member and current member of the 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile was the honored guest at the opening ceremony. Sharing his experience of working with TYC for many years, Karma Yeshi said, “every individual has responsibility and we should keep the spirit of the Tibetan people inside Tibet in our hearts and continue our efforts until our struggle is resolved.”

In his inaugural speech, Tenzing Jigme, President of TYC stressed on how TYC has been and continues to be a great platform for youth leadership. Jigme stated that education, sacrifice and responsibility are key to moving forward and strengthening our movement. “It is time to develop new ideas and strategies”, he added and encouraged participants of the meeting to bring forth tactics and proposals that will help our organization and struggle move forward as well as resolve our issue soon.Nartyc1

During the meeting, a review of the previous year’s resolutions was carried out, with each region stating their efforts in active implementation of each of the eight resolutions and annual reports of each regional chapter were distributed to the Centrex President and all the regions for review.

The participants also held discussions over a wide range of topics, including campaigns to increase support and highlight the self-immolations in Tibet as well as plight of various political prisoners in Tibet, actions to contain Dhogyal propitiator’s false allegations towards H.H. the Dalai Lama and, promotion and preservation of Tibetan culture and religion in exile.

The 14th North America Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Working Committee Meeting was convened by Regional Tibetan Youth Congress chapter of Wisconsin.
