CTA President congratulates Chief Minister-designate Jai Ram Thakur

DHARAMSALA, Dec 26: The President of Central Tibetan Administration Dr Lobsang Sangay has congratulated the new Chief Minister-designate of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur.

“On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration, I heartily congratulate you for being designated as the new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. As the host of both His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration, Himachal Pradesh is extremely important for Tibetans across the world. The Tibetan people and the people of Himachal Pradesh share a close bond of friendship based on love and harmony. I am hopeful that under your visionary leadership, this bond will be strengthened even further,” a report on CTA’s official webpage tibet.net quoted President Sangay as saying.

pppBJP declared Thakur, a five-time Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Seraj constituency in Mandi district as the new Chief Minister designate of Himachal Pradesh. BJP made the declaration after a meeting between the Party’s central observers (Union ministers, Nirmala Sitharaman and Narinder Singh Tomar), the Party’s newly elected members of the legislative assembly and other party leaders in Shimla on Sunday, according to media reports.

Jai Ram Thakur, 52, will take oath as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on Dec 27. BJP swept the state election by winning 44 of the 68 assembly seats.
