CTA’s Five Fifty Forum, ‘Towards a Resilient Tibetan Community’ underway in Dharamsala
DHARAMSALA, Sept, 14: The Central Tibetan Administration’s (CTA) ‘Five-Fifty forum: Towards a Resilient Tibetan Community’ being held at the Hotel Fortune Moksha here in the upper Dharamsala entered second day today.
The President of the CTA Dr Lobsang Sangay inaugurated the four-day forum yesterday evening. The inaugural session was attended by CTA’s top officials along with about 200 experts on leadership, resource mobilisation, health and education as well as CTA donors. Ann Marie Yastishok, the USAID’s Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia, delivered the keynote address at the forum.
The CTA maintains that the ‘Five-Fifty Forum on Resilience’ is a follow-on to the political gatherings convened in October 2017 and the youth forum in August 2018. It focuses on the development and long-term resiliency objectives of the ‘Five-Fifty’ vision.
The forum is being held with the core aim to help the Tibetan leadership and community address some core questions related to the forum themes – Sustaining Tibetan Culture, Economic Development of Tibetan Community, Strengthening Tibetan Education and A Healthier Tibetan community and investigate innovative ideas and solutions.
The four-day forum being held over Sept 13 – 16 is organised by Social and Resource Development (SARD) wing of the CTA’s Finance Department and is part of the Tibetan Self-Reliance and Resilience (TSRR) program funded by USAID.
Through the five-fifty vision, CTA strives to maximize its efforts to resolve the Tibet issue within five years based on its Middle Way Approach while sustaining and strengthening the resilience of Tibetan people, Tibetan freedom struggle and Tibetan culture and identity for the next fifty years if need be.
