FIFA launches women’s soccer development initiative campaign in Tibet

DHARAMSALA, Dec 13: FIFA, the international governing body of football, has launched its women’s soccer development initiative campaign in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet.

FIFA has launched its women’s soccer development initiative ‘Live Your Goals’ campaign in Lhasa with futsal games and competitions designed to get girls engaged in soccer, according to a report on SportsPro.

‘Live Your Goals’ is FIFA’s global initiative to create awareness and to develop soccer for girls and women to inspire them to achieve their goals in football.

FIFA launched the campaign in 2011 and it provides support to member associations as they strive to create awareness and develop soccer for girls and women by assisting them with branding, communications, concept development and finance.

Tibetan National Sports Association (TNSA), the apex governing body of sports of the exiled Tibetans, has stated that the Tibetan Women’s National Team will travel to London in 2018 to take part in matches organised by CONIFA – outside its World Football Cup 2018 tournament.

TNSA has organised a Tibetan women’s football training cum selection camp from Dec 25, 2017 to Jan 15, 2018 to scout and select the best players for the women’s national team.

The CONIFA World Football Cup is an international football tournament organized by CONIFA for football federation of states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions unaffiliated with FIFA.

The Tibetan National men’s team earned its berth to the CONIFA World Football Cup 2018 through a wild card entry.
