His Holiness’ visit to Sikkim off on doctor’s advice

DHARAMSALA, Feb 3: His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s planned visit to Sikkim next month stands cancelled now on his physicians advice to cut down on his travels.

HIs Holiness the Dalai LamaThe Tibetan spiritual leader was supposed to visit Sikkim, a state in northeast India from March 20 to March 29.

“Physicians has recommended that His Holiness cut down on his travels and not to exert himself. Unfortunately, we have therefore decided to cancel the visit to Sikkim,” Tenzin Talklha, the Dalai Lama’s secretary, said in a missive to the Secretary of the Ecclesiastical Dept. of the government of Sikkim, Samten Dolma.

Apart from experiencing exhaustion due to his advancing age, the Dalai Lama has assured the public that he is in excellent health.

The octogenarian Tibetan leader returned to his abode on Jan 31 after a series of religious teachings and engagements spanning over 40 days in South India and the holy city of Bodh Gaya.

Earlier in Jan, Tenzin Talklha has stated that the majority of the Tibetan spiritual leader’s travels abroad in 2018 were shelved in a missive he wrote to Nancy McFarlane, the Mayor of Raleigh, North Carolina to inform her of the cancellation of His Holiness’ planned visit to Raleigh.
