I am looking forward to taking a good rest: the Dalai Lama says after returning from a hectic 45-day tour
DHARAMSALA, August 14: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama returned to his residence in Dharamsala after a hectic 45-day tour across India.
The political head of the Tibetan people, President Lobsang Sangay and Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel received His Holiness at the Gaggal airport near Dharamsala. Senior officials and representatives of several Tibetan NGOs were also present in the afternoon at the airport to welcome the Tibetan spiritual leader.
While interacting with the reporters outside the airport, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said that he has a very successful tour and now that he is back, he is looking forward to taking a good rest.
“Now that I am back, I am looking forward to taking a good rest,” the Dalai Lama said.
Through his strenuous 45-day tour, the Tibetan Nobel laureate said he was able to do much service for the Buddha dharma and to all the sentient beings as he has always wished and further asked all the Tibetans not to worry.
“[I have a] strong body. I think mainly peaceful mind, that really makes a difference,” the 83-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader replied when asked how he manages such a long journey.
The itinerary of the Dalai Lama’s 45-day tour included a series of religious teachings and engagements in Ladakh, Delhi, Goa and Bangalore.
The Dalai Lama will now give four days’ teachings and continue last year’s topic on Buddhapalita’s Commentary on the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way (drel-pa Buddhapalita) from September 4-7 in the mornings at the request of a group from Asia that includes devotees from Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam at the Tsug-lag-khang, the main temple in Mcleod Ganj.
