Lugsum team from Bylakuppe wins Tibetan Basketball Tournament held in Dharamsala

DHARAMSALA, Oct 3: Lugsum team defeated TDL team in an all-Bylakuppee final of the ‘Tibetan Basketball Tournament – Defense Against TB’.

Lugsum team from Bylakuppee was crowned the champion of the basketball tournament held at Gangchen Kyishong, Dharamsala yesterday, with the final score of 35 points against 47 points in favour of Lugsum.

22207224_1675105699200500_1784653273_nWhile the champion and the runners up team were awarded trophies and cash prizes of fifty thousand and thirty thousand rupees respectively, Donam of TDL team was declared the MVP of the tournament and Sarah team was adjudged the fair play team of the tournament and received two thousand five hundred and five thousand rupees respectively.

‘Tibetan Basketball Tournament – Defense Against TB’ was jointly organized by the Health Department of Central Tibetan Administration, Tibetan Youth Congress and Tibetan National Sports Association to raise awareness about tuberculosis and general health within the Tibetan community in exile.

A total of twelve Tibetan basketball teams; three teams from Dharamsala, two teams from Bylakuppee and a team each from Nepal, Delhi, North East India, Ladakh, Dehradun, Mundgod and Bir took part in the the tournament held over Sep 27 – Oct 2.
