Men-Tsee-Khang urges public to exercise extreme caution over counterfeit pills

DHARAMSALA, July 19: Men-Tsee-Khang, the Tibetan Medical and Astro. Institute based in Dharamsala, has urged the general public to exercise extreme caution as counterfeit pills claiming to be manufactured by the institute are being sold in the market.

Alarmed by the alleged rumour of the counterfeit Tibetan medicines being sold in the market by some unscrupulous people, Tashi Tsering, the Director of Men-Tsee-Khang’s has issued a statement in the public interest and urged the public to be cautious of such acts.

20196758_1596541900390214_1868194447_n“In spite of the increase in the production of Tibetan medicine and traditional Tibetan healing (sorig) products, we are still unable to meet the demand owing to the expansion of our branch clinics, increase in patients and medical camps abroad,” Tashi Tsering, the Director of Men-Tsee-Khang said in the statement.

“At a time when the public holds the institute and its products with great regard, its being reported that some unscrupulous people are forging Men-Tsee-Khang’s medicine and name by supplying people in Tibet with counterfeit pills through Nathu La Pass,” Tashi Tsering said.

With the possibility of putting people into harms way, the Director has urged the public to notify his office if any one identifies such unscrupulous people and advised the general public to exercise extreme caution.
