DHARAMSALA, Sept 30: Lhagyari Namgyal Dolkar, current member of Tibetan Parliament and former Vice-President of Gu-Chu-Sum Movement of Tibet, was elected as the new President of the organization on the third and final day of its 7th General Body Meeting.
A total of eleven members were elected to the 7th Executive Body of the organization with Lhagyari Namgyar Dolkar as the President.
“It’s more difficult to sustain an organization than establishing one. As thousands of our political prisoners and over 150 self-immolators called for freedom to be restored in Tibet, our organization shouldn’t merely exist but strive towards resolving our goal,” the organization’s out-going President Atsok Lukar Jam said.
“Until we regain our freedom, there will be political prisoners. The new executive body should take a stand for these political prisoners as we resist the totalitarian rule of communist China in Tibet,” the former Sikyong candidate concluded.
Lhagyari Namgyal Dolkar, in her interactions with the media, called for sustenance in maintaining healthy bond among members of the organization who have moved abroad and for successful execution of the resolutions passed at the just concluded General Body Meeting.
Along with certain resolutions passed at the meeting as directives for future endeavors of the organization such as publishing biography of political prisoners to spread awareness at global level, the organization also made presidency off limits for those who doesn’t endorse His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s political stand and criticizes him.
