His Holiness to skip official ceremony and Himalayan International Festival

DHARAMSALA, Dec 4: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama will not be able to grace the ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of him being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and the Himalayan International Festival to be held on Dec 10 here in Dharamsala, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) announced on its official website, tibet.net today.

Due to an important engagement in Delhi on Dec 9, His Holiness will leave Dharamsala on Dec 8 and then proceed to Rome, Italy to attend the 14th summit of Nobel Peace Laureates to be held from Dec 12 to 14, CTA said in its announcement.

The 79-yr-old Tibetan spiritual leader was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.

The venue of the Nobel Summit was moved to Rome after several Nobel Peace Prize winners chose to boycott the summit, earlier scheduled to be held in Cape Town, over South African government’s denial to provide visa for the Tibetan spiritual leader.
