TWA celebrates 32nd re-establishment anniversary

DHARAMSALA, September 12: Tibetan Women’s Association(TWA) commemorated the 32nd anniversary of the organisation’s re-establishment in exile on Saturday at an event held at the Club House in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala.
The event, attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan parliament in-exile, Achraya Yeshi Phuntsok as the Chief Guest, the founding President of TWA and former Kalon (minister) of the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA), Rinchen Khando as the Special Guest along with Ajay Singh Mankotia, President of Indo-Tibetan Friendship Association, commenced with a minute’s silence observed to mourn the Tibetan martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for Tibet.
“While we serve for our county, it should be the fondness and affection towards one’s country that should drive us rather than self-interest and personal fame,” the founding President of TWA, Rinchen Khando said in her key address.
Ajay Singh Mankotia, President of Indo-Tibetan Friendship Association congratulated the organization on its 32nd anniversary and said, “TWA must maintain a good rapport with the numerous Indian women’s organizations across India.”
“As we celebrate 32nd anniversary of TWA, I applaud the organisation founded on the bedrock of the March 12, 1959 women’s uprising in Tibet and as envisioned by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, “Achraya Yeshi Phuntsok said.
Condemning baseless and unfounded accusations surfacing on social media platforms, he added, “These are what China desires, we should in fact study the charters and law proposed and established by the CTA for proper sustenance of our administration.”
On the occasion of its 32nd anniversary, the organisation, in their press release, urged and appealed to the world leaders and Tibet support groups all over the world for their support and attention about issues related to human rights and Tibet’s endangered environment.
Following are the appeals and the demands they made:
- We urge you to pressure on China to re-start the dialogue with the CTA in exile as per the Middle Way Approach proposed by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
- We urge United Nation’s Committee Enforced Disapperance to exert pressure on China to release His Holiness the 11th Panchen Lama who has been in Chinese captivity for over 21 long years.
- TWA urge the United Nations and other world leaders to take immediate action to stop China from demolishing Tibet’s biggest Buddhist Institute ‘Larung Gar’at Serthar County, eastern Tibet. This Has caused tremendous problem and self-immolation of its inmates.
- TWA demand the Chinese Government to release all the Tibetan political prisoners unconditionally.
- Lastly, an appel to the United Nations to take necessary actions to make Chinese Government to relent.
