Sikyong calls India world’s role model on its 68th Republic Day

DHARAMSALA, Jan 26: India is a role model for the world as it has proved that economic development can be achieved hand in glove with the democratic rights of the people, said the Tibetan political leader Sikyong Lobsang Sangay at a ceremony held today at the Kashag Secretariat to mark the 68th anniversary of India’s Republic Day.
Flanked by members of the Kashag and senior officials of the Central Tibetan Administration Sikyong Sangay, commenced the brief ceremony by hoisting the tri-color Indian National flag as everyone sang the Indian National anthem to celebrate the 68th anniversary of India’s Republic day.
“India is a role model for the world as it has proved that economic development can be achieved hand in glove with the democratic rights of the people. Though inhabited by people with different faith, speaking as diverse as more than 200 different languages, the strong rooted Indian democracy has successfully survived the test of times,” Sikyong Sangay said.
Extending best wishes on behalf of all the Tibetans, Sikyong Sangay also expressed gratitude to the state government of Himachal Pradesh and the central government of India.
“I hope the collective development of India’s economic and democratic rights will continue to prosper in the days to come,” Sikyong Sangay concluded.
