Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel congratulates new Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur

DHARAMSALA, Dec 27: Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Khenpo Sonam Tenphel has congratulated Jai Ram Thakur, the new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.

“On Behalf of 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, I would like to extend my warmest congratulation to you on becoming the 13th Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh,” Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel said in a missive to the new Chief Minister.

Untitled-1Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel has also thanked the government of India at large and the government of Himachal Pradesh, and its people in particular, for their unwavering support and hospitality for more than fifty-eight years in exile.

“I was deeply honored to learn that you have spared your valuable time to meet with the members of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile during last winter session and I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you in coming future as well,” Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel concluded.

Jai Ram Thakur, a five-time BJP MLA from Siraj constituency in Mandi district formally took oath as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh earlier today at a swearing-in ceremony held at the Ridge Maidan in Shiml. The ceremony was attended by among others, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President Amit Shah, former deputy Prime Minister LK Advani along with several Union ministers and chief ministers.
