TCHRD launches book by disappeared Tibetan writer-activist Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee

DHARAMSALA, NOV 29: The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) on Nov 28 released a new book written by Lingtsa Tsetan Dorjee, who disappeared soon after embarking on a ‘peace march’ to Tibet in 2013.
Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile attended the event held at Norbu Hotel in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala as the Chief Guest along with other speakers for the event, Mrs Dombo Kyi, mother of Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee and Venerable Gangri, President of Domey Central Association.
“This book was written by Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee while he was confined in a prison cell in Nepal after his first peace march to Tibet in 2012. We believe this book holds as an important document in the phase of our struggle in future,” Executive Director of TCHRD, Ms Tsering Tsomo said in her inaugural address.
“It contains detail information as of why he resorted to the ‘peace march’ and a detail record of the conversation he exchanged with his parents, his wife and two children. We hope and pray for his reunion with his family,” she added.
Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile launched the book titled ‘Bhod kyi Shewei Thaptsoe’ (Tibet’s Peaceful Struggle) and said: “His dedication and resolute courage as he embarked on the peace march for the cause of Tibet is highly commendable. Our peaceful and non-violent movement needs more people like him.”
Venerable Gangri, President of Domey Central Association applauded TCHRD for publishing the book and urged all the NGO’s to chip in and contribute as some matters are beyond the reach of the Tibetan Administration.
Mrs Dombo Kyi, the mother of Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee, thanked the publisher and the editors of the book and spoke of another book given to Sikyong Lobsang Sangay in a pen drive to be published before His Holiness’birthday.
“I would like to thank the publisher and the editors of the book on my son’s behalf. My son wrote two books. He gave another book titled ‘Bhod kyi Shiwei Thaplam’ (Tibet’s Peaceful Path) compiled in a pen drive to Sikyong Lobsang Sangay to publish the book before His Holiness’ birthday. It was said that the pen drive was lost. But later I was told by Sikyong through Aku Mogri Tenpa and another person that the pen drive has been recovered but the file couldn’t be opened. Aku Mogri Tenpa tried so hard to open the file but to no avail,” Mrs Dombo Kyi said.
“Only a mother can feel the pain I endured after my child disappeared. Though the condition and whereabouts of my son remain unknown, I still pray that he can contribute for the greater cause of Tibet,” she concluded.
Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee ‘disappeared’ in June 2013, soon after setting off from Kalimpong towards Nepal during his second peace march from India to Tibet.
