DHARAMSALA, 24 July: Two Chinese nationals were arrested by Indian security personnel at Raxaul town in Bihar situated at the India-Nepal border for attempting to enter India without proper documents, reported Hindustan Times on 22 July.
Kantesh Kumar Mishra, Superintendent of Police (SP) at east Champaran identified the two Chinese as Zhao Jing and Fu Cong, questioning their motive for attempting to enter India illegally.
“Motive behind their move could not be established. Interrogation is being done,” said the SP.
According to the report, the two are suspected of an espionage plan. But the investigations are underway.
An unnamed immigration official has told the reporter, “In the course of the interrogation, they demonstrated strange behaviour. While one of them is fluent in English, the statements given by them are inconsistent and self-contradictory.”
It’s found that the duo had made a similar attempt of entering India without valid documents on 2 July, the report continued.
“They were previously apprehended on July 2 this year. At that time, they were let off with a warning and were advised to enter into the Indian territory with visas,” the immigration official has said.
Following a thorough investigation by the immigration officers and other agency officers, a case has been filed against the two, under The Foreigners Act. They were then handed over to Hardia police station SHO for further action.
Last year in December, Bihar police arrested a Chinese Citizen over suspicion of spying on the Dalai Lama in Bodh Gaya. However, after a thorough investigation, police found that it was a simple case of a lady who had inadvertently overstayed in the country on an expired visa.
