Till now, all the South America related activities were being handled by the liaison office based with the Office of Tibet for North America in the United States.

“However, in the last two years, there had been considerable deliberations to establish a separate office of Tibet for South America. Hence, the new Office of Tibet is being established”, the Kashag Secretariat reasoned in the notification.

In another development, Telo Trulku Rinpoche, the spiritual head of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition in Kalmykia, formally took charge as the new Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Office of Tibet based in Moscow, Russia, from outgoing Representative Dr Ngawang Rabgyal.
