Italy’s generously donated masks, coronavirus supplies to China now being sold back to them

DHARAMSALA, 7 April: China is allegedly selling Italy masks and coronavirus supplies that the latter had donated to them just weeks earlier, media reports said citing a source from the White House.

Beijing has, in fact, forced Rome to buy back the very equipment it had donated to China at the height of the outbreak in Wuhan, The Spectator reported citing a senior official from the Trump administration.

The source, who is a White House administration official has said in the report that, “Before the virus hit Europe, Italy sent tons of PPE to China to help China protect its own population, China then has sent Italian PPE back to Italy — some of it, not even all of it … and charged them for it.’

The report further described China taking advantage of Italy’s generosity as an example of Beijing’s “disastrous diplomacy in the wake of the pandemic.”

It concluded by adding that much of the supplies and testing kits China has sold to other countries have turned out to be defective and that China instead of apologizing or fixing the issue, has instead blamed its defective equipment on others.

Until now, the COVID-19 pandemic that originated from Wuhan, China has infected 1,360,232people across the world according to worldometer. While 293,615 people have recovered, 75,961 have died due to the infection.
