COVID-19: Kangra DC office at Dharamsala closed till 22 Nov

DHARAMSALA, 19 Nov: After reporting 15 positive COVID-19 cases, the office of the District Magistrate Kangra at Dharamsala has announced that its office will remain closed till 22 Nov.

The 15 positive cases were reported in the “single building” after tests were conducted today, the order issued by the office of the District Magistrate Kangra at Dharamsala said and added that the premises of the Deputy Commissioner Office Kangra at Dharamsala is hereby closed for the next  48 hours citing guidelines issued by Himachal Pradesh state government.

“The building premises be sanitized as per SOP’s and offices shall be opened on 23 Nov 2020,” the order added.

The report came days after 11 employees from another government office, Kangra Municipal Corporation tested positive for Covid-19.

Kangra, Himachal’s most populated district reported 95 positive cases, 23 recoveries and 2 deaths today.

As Himachal has witnessed a spike in Covid-19 cases, the state government “will soon issue a new protocol for scaled down social and political gatherings in view of the sudden spike in Covid cases and the high fatality rate,” The Tribune reported on Tuesday.

“A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting chaired by CM Jai Ram Thakur and that the” attendance at social gatherings, including weddings, will again be restricted to 100 instead of the present 200,” the report added citing senior bureaucrats.

The state has so far reported 31401 positive cases. Of the lot, 6901 cases are active, 24002 have recovered and 475 have died.
