Tibetan parliament passes resolution urging CTA officials, civil servants to wear traditional attire to office

DHARAMSALA, 19 March:  The Tibetan Parliament-in-exile today passed a resolution urging all the officials and civil servants of the Central Tibetan Administration to wear traditional dress to the office every day.

The resolution was tabled by Tibetan MP Abbot Jamphel Tenzin and supported by MP Thupten Gyaltsen.

Following a debate in the house over the resolution on its feasibility and significance, the resolution was passed by a simple majority by the Tibetan MPs today on the 5th day of the 16th Tibetan Parliament’s last session.

Henceforth, all the officials and civil servants of the CTA irrespective of their rank and gender are urged to wear traditional dress to the office every day and converse in proper Tibetan, the resolution asserted while urging the general public to do the same while visiting CTA offices and departments.
