China criticizes US envoy to India’s meeting with Dalai Lama’s representative

DHARAMSALA, 12 Aug: China has strongly objected to the meeting between the US envoy to New Delhi and the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi.

Criticizing the meeting between US envoy to New Delhi Atul Keshap  and the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi Ngodup Dongchung, Chinese embassy spokesperson Wang Xiaojian has stated that the “Tibetan issue is China’s internal matter.”

“@USAmbIndia Strongly opposed to repeated provocative acts by the US. Tibetan affairs are purely China’s internal affairs that allow no foreign interference,” Xiaojian tweeted.

‘”The US should honour its commitment, stop meddling in China’s internal affairs under the pretext of Tibetan affairs, offer no support to the “Tibetan independence” forces to engage in anti-China separatist activities,” the Chinese spokesperson added in another tweet.

Keshap, 50, the Indian-American envoy confirmed his meeting with the Representative of the Dalai Lama in a tweet.

Beijing reacted sharply last month after a meeting between the US Secretary of State Blinken and the representative of the Dalai Lama in the Indian capital to assure continued support for Tibet under US President Biden’s administration.
