Dalai Lama, CTA President extends greetings as Archbishop Desmond Tutu turns 90 

DHARAMSALA, 8 Oct: Leaders of the Tibetan people have extended their birthday wishes to Archbishop Desmond Tutu on the latter’s 90th birthday.

Addressing his fellow Nobel Peace Laureate as his “respected elder brother in the spiritual field,” in a video message, the Tibetan Spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama says: “I have deep admiration and respect for you, Bishop Tutu. So, I want to express my greetings to you on your 90th birthday.” 

The Dalai Lama further offers his special prayers and greetings on his friend’s 90th birthday and says “My elder spiritual brother, please live long. We need you to set a good example.”

Penpa Tsering, the President of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) took to Twitter to greet South Africa’s anti-apartheid icon. 

“Wishing Archbishop @TheDesmondTutu a very Happy 90th Birthday! Witnessing the friendship between You and His Holiness is one of the greatest joys and offers insight into how humanity could be. May You live long, and may the world continue to be the recipient of your wisdom,” read a tweet on Sikyong’s official Twitter handle.
