Two Tibetan students bag Gold Medals from St. Philomena’s college

DHARAMSALA, 31 Aug: Two Tibetan students have been awarded the gold medal for topping St. Philomena’s College in the Master of Commerce and the Master of Arts.

Tsunde Sangmo and Dikey Sangmo were awarded the Gold Medal for topping the Master of Commerce and the Master of Arts, their respective disciplines at St. Philomena’s College in Mysore, India during the convocation held on Sunday.

Tsunde Sangmo was adjudged the St. Philomena’s gold medalist for the Master of Commerce 2022 after she secured 91.05% marks in the exam.

Born to a Tibetan refugee family in Ladakh, she went to TCV school Ladakh till 10th standard and after that, she joined the commerce stream at TCV Upper for her Higher secondary education. She also holds a B Com degree from the Dalai Lama Institute of Higher Education in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

At present, she works as an accountant at Men- Tsee- Khang, the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute here.

Dikey Sangmo topped St. Philomena’s College’s Master of Arts with 88.05% to bag the gold medal. 

Born to a Tibetan refugee family in Doeguling Tibetan settlement in Mundgod, Karnataka, she completed her schooling at Sambhota Tibetan School Mundgod.

She also holds a BA Arts degree from Delhi University. Sangmo aspires to become a teacher and is considering taking up a teacher’s training course.
