Four Tibetan beauties to contest for Miss Tibet 2016

DHARAMSALA, May 30: Director of Miss Tibet event, Lobsang Wangyal officially presented this years’ contestants at a press conference held today at Norbu House in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala.

13350398_1180187325877427_oThe 14th edition of the Miss Tibet pageant has four contestents, Dechen Wangmo from Mussorie, Tenzin Dawa from New York, Tenzin Deckyi from Bylakuppe and Tenzin Sangnye from Manali.

“They are beautiful, intelligent and ambitious, and determined to do something in their life and for the Tibetan cause.”Lobsang Wangyal said while introducing the contestants.

The three-day competition from June 3-5 has seven rounds that include ‘Swimsuit’ round scheduled in the afternoon of June 3 followed by ‘Talk and Talent’ Rounds on the evening of June 4 at Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) auditorium. The remaining four rounds, Introduction, Gown, Traditional Costume, and Interview will be held in the evening of June 5 at TIPA ground.

“It is a huge honor to announce that for the first time in the history of the Miss Tibet pageant, a Tibetan named Mr Jangchup Nyendak has sponsored the prize money of rupees one lakh to be awarded with the Miss Tibet crown,” said a jubilated Lobsang.

The first runners up will get a prize money of rupees fifty thousand followed by twenty five thousand for the second runners up contestant.

“Lobsang Wangyal has been empowering Tibetans through the platform of Miss Tibet since its inception in 2002. I know that he has undergone many hardships while doing so; I am sponsoring the prize money to support him in his good endeavor,” said Jangchup Nyendak, a Tibetan businessman from Delhi.
