Sambhota Tibetan schools’ society commences three-day special meeting

DHARAMSALA, July 27: Sambhota Tibetan schools’ society today began three-day school heads special meeting at Tibetan Transit School, Dharamsala after taking over administrative charge of 5 Primary and 5 Secondary schools from the Central government of India.
In a bid to improve the education standards and for better administration, Sambhota Tibetan schools’ society has, as of now, taken charge of 14 Tibetan schools (9 Primary and 5 Secondary schools) and 33 kindergartens from the Central government of India.
The first day of the 3-day special meeting which to be held over July 27- 29 was attended by the Chief Guest Sikyong Lobsang Sangay, Education Kalon(Minister) Ngodup Tsering, Karma Chungdak, Director of Sambhota Tibetan schools’ society and 21 Sambhota Tibetan school heads.
The special meeting, as described by Karma Chungdak in his introduction speech was convened to brief the newly appointed school heads about the administrative directives and to hold discussions between the new and old school heads, to discuss on how to improve the education standards and holistic developments of the students.
“Let’s get together and strive towards a swift and excellent transformation of the new schools we over took,” Karma Chungdak, Director of Sambhota Tibetan schools’ society said as he concluded his address.
Expressing his unwavering support, the political head of the Central Tibetan Administration, Sikyong Sangay said his current cabinet (15th), like his previous cabinet, has also listed education as the top priority of his administration and encouraged reaching out to his office for any assistance.
Drawing inspiration from the Jewish people, who constitutes 20 % of the academic Noble laureates, Sikyong said, “Education has played a pivotal role in sustaining and strengthening their freedom cause, Tibetan scholars from 7th century have travelled all the way to India and translated all the Buddhist texts into Tibetan; we are in the 21st century with better facilities and if committed we can achieve great heights.”
Education Kalon, Ngodup Tsering, in his addres, applauded the Sambhota schools’ improvement in this year’s class XII board exam and called for complete commitment from the school heads in wellbeing of the students and their education quality.
During the course of the three–day meeting, Sambhota Tibetan schools’ society will hold detail discussion on smooth transition of the newly overtaken schools, improve the standard of Tibetan language, introduce and implement the moral ethics subjects as advised by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
