His Holiness is solution, not obstacle to Tibet-China issue: Sikyong

DHARAMSALA, Oct 3: His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a solution rather than a problem to Tibet-China issue, the political head of the Tibetan administration, Sikyong Lobsang Sangay said responding to statements made by Chinese government officials.
“His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a solution rather than an obstacle to the China-Tibet issue”, Sikyong Sangay said.
“Chinese government’s policy is erroneous. Chinese government is wrong, has been wrong and will be always wrong if they follow the same policy,” Sikyong Sangay concluded.
Following the Tibetan spiritual leader’s successful European trip last month where he met with various statesmen and spoke at the European Parliament in France, China’s Foreign Ministry expressed anger and threatened countermeasures.
The Communist Party secretary of Tibet recently stated that countering the influence of Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the ‘highest priority’ for maintaining ethnic unity in Tibet.
“First, we must deepen the struggle against the Dalai Lama clique, make it the highest priority in carrying out our ethnic affairs, and the long-term mission of strengthening ethnic unity,” Chinese State-run Tibet Daily quoted Tibet Party Secretary Wu Yingjie as saying in its report on Sept 30.
“(We must) thoroughly expose the reactionary nature of the fourteenth Dalai Lama, crack down on separatist and subversive activities, and strive to eliminate at their roots harmful elements that damage ethnic unity,” Wu was further quoted in the report.
