Sikyong Sangay congratulates Nancy Pelosi on being re-elected as House Democratic leader

DHARAMSALA, Dec 2: The political head of the Tibetan people, Sikyong Lobsang Sangay has congratulated Nancy Pelosi on her re-election as the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives.

Your re-election to the crucial post of democratic leader is a reflection of your leadership, integrity and the sharp relevance of your voice as a champion of American ideals,” Tibet.net, the official website of the Central Tibetan Administration quoted Sikyong Sangay as conveying in his congratulatory message to Pelosi.

Describing the Democratic leader in the House as a true friend of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people, Sikyong expressed his hope for the bond of the friendship to grow deeper and stronger.

Nancy Pelosi, an old friend of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and a firm supporter of the Tibetan movement was re-elected to an eighth term as House leader over Representative Tim Ryan. She was first elected to the House in 1987.

“I have a special spring in my step today, because this opportunity is a special one, to lead the House Democrats, bring everyone together as we go forward,” The Washington Times quoted Pelosi as saying in its report following her re-election.
