The President of CTA also said that Tibet is a ‘litmus test’ and holds the key to Beijing in many ways and also is a potential catalyst to bring about changes inside China as he spoke on the theme, ‘Tibet holds the key to Beijing’ at the Prof ML Sondhi Memorial Lecture.

Reiterating late professor ML Sondhi’s remarks that Tibet is the ‘core issue’ between India and China’s relationship, President Sangay said India should make Tibet as one of the core issues during formal dialogues with China.

“India should also declare Tibet as one of the core issues like China. It should make it part of the formal dialogue agenda,” the report quoted President Sangay as saying.

Organised by the Professor ML Sondhi Memorial Trust, the third ML Sondhi Memorial Lecture was held in New Delhi on Dec 14. BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav attended the event as the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest spoke critically about India’s foreign policy in his address and asserted that while India can not choose its neighbour, it should understand its neighbour and stated that China practices the ‘art of deception’.

“Indian foreign policy is largely driven by romantic ideas. It should end. We should have a pragmatic policy,” the report quoted Ram Madhav as saying.
