US Ambassador to New Delhi meets both spiritual and political head of Tibet

DHARAMSALA, May 5: The US Ambassador to New Delhi, Kenneth Juster met with both the spiritual and political head of the Tibetan people during his two-day official visit to Dharamsala.

The US Ambassador had an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama yesterday on the second day of his two-day visit to Dharamsala over May 3 – 4.

The Ambassador and the Tibetan spiritual leader were said to have discussed on various issues. Following the audience with the Dalai Lama, the Ambassador said he was inspired by the Dalai Lama’s views on how inner peace of individuals could be spread to bring broader peace to mankind.

Ambassador Kenneth Juster further stated that he made a request to His Holiness the Dalai Lama to visit the United States again in the future.

The Ambassador arrived in Dharamsala on Thursday for his official visit and met twice with Dr Lobsang Sangay, the President of the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA).

President Sangay led Kashag(Cabinet) of the CTA also hosted an official dinner reception for the visiting delegates from the US Embassy in New Delhi, followed by cultural performances at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts.

Ambassador Kenneth Juster was accompanied by a four-member delegation from the US Embassy consisting of Anood Taqui, Special Assistant, Derek Westfall, Deputy Political Minister Counsellor, Thomas Kress, USAID and Raj Marwaha, USAID.

Kenneth Juster was appointed as the US Ambassador to India on November 2017.
