DHARAMSALA, Nov 26: Another earthquake jolted Dartsedo County in Kardze Prefecture in traditional Tibet’s Kham Province at 11:19 pm (local time) Tuesday, three days after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit the same area killing five people.
The quake hit 25 kilometers northwest of Dartsedo city and at a depth of 16 kilometers, injuring three people, State media Xinhua cited China Earthquake Networks Centre as saying. Two of the three injured were reported in Bamey and one in Shide Township in neighbouring Tawu County.
Following the quake, local residents rushed out of their homes to the streets and several residents spend the night at a stadium to avoid aftershocks.
However, telecommunications in the area were affected and many could not be reached by phone. Local residents instead used the instant messaging service We Chat to contact each other.
It hasn’t been confirmed whether the quake was an entirely separate one or an aftershock of the 6.3-magnitude that hit the same area three days ago.
