J&K Governor calls on Dalai Lama

DHARAMSALA, July 11: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has called on the Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama earlier this morning at the Shiwatsel Phodrang complex in Leh, Ladakh

Governor N N Vohra is on an official visit to Leh and during the meeting, the two leaders accented on the importance of debate and discussion to reconcile opposing viewpoints, reports oneindia.com.

The Governor was accompanied by his advisors, Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary Planning, an official spokesman of the governor said in the report.

The Dalai Lama is said to have highlighted the importance of studying philosophical texts to cultivate an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for all religions during their interaction and further, the Dalai Lama prayed for peace and prosperity in the world.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is currently on a 19-day teaching tour in Ladakh since July 3 and is scheduled to return to Dharamshala on July 21.
