DHARAMSALA, Oct 23:  As many as 35 activists from the Tibetan Youth Congress(TYC), were detained by Delhi police for protesting at the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi today in the afternoon to protest against the Chinese delegation for the bilateral security meet with India.

The activists from the largest Tibetan NGO in exile has stormed the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi before they were detained by the police.

“Around 35 TYC members were detained at the Chinese Embassy this afternoon. The protest comes at the heels of the visit of the Chinese Public Security Minister and so-called TAR ministers to Delhi,” TYC President Tenzing Jigme said.

India and China held talks yesterday on internal security with the Indian delegation led by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the Chinese team led by Zhao Kezai, China’s Minister of Public Security.

Meanwhile, in a sly dig at China, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju who hails from Arunachal Pradesh is among the Indian delegation for the bilateral security meet. China lays claim to around 90,000 square kilometres of Arunachal Pradesh as its own territory, which India has resolutely rejected.

The Minister from Arunachal also accompanied the Dalai Lama to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh in April last year. Kezhi will be in India from October 21 to 25.
