DHARAMSALA, Oct 29: The political head of the Tibetan people, President Dr Lobsang Sangay has urged India to tell China that Tibet is a core issue to India too.

“China says Tibet is a core issue for it. India should respond to China. It must say that Tibet is a core issue for India as well,” President Sangay remarked after launching a flagship trilingual report by the Central Tibetan Administration titled “Tibet was never a part of China, but Middle Way remains a viable solution,” in the New Delhi, India’s capital.

The report published in Tibetan, English and Chinese languages, was unveiled by Prof. Anand Kumar, Socialist and Reformer, and President Sangay at an event attended by a host of scholars, experts, academicians, diplomats and journalists at India International Centre in New Delhi.

The report was released by the Information and International Relations (DIIR) wing of the CTA.

President Sangay further said that the Middle Way Approach is the most viable option to resolve the longstanding Sino-Tibet issue and called for the resumption of dialogue between the envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Chinese representatives.

The political head of the Tibetan people also said that Tibet is a test for the whole world. The 152 self-immolations in Tibet evinces the fact that Tibet is not a socialist paradise and that Tibetans are not masters in their own land, President Sangay has said and called on those who are support non-violence, democracy, justice and freedom to stand for Tibet.

President Sangay’s remarks came few days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s scheduled meeting on the sidelines of the G20 meeting to be held in Argentina next month and it remains to be seen whether Prime Minister Modi takes heed to the President Sangay’s comments.
