DHARAMSALA, Nov 7:  A Tibetan youth has set himself on fire in restive Ngaba County in eastern Tibet’s Amdo Province.

Dhopo, a Tibetan youth has reportedly self-immolated on Nov 4 in an apparent protest against China’s repressive rule in Tibet, according to online media reports.

The 27-year old Tibetan youth is said to have shouted: “Long Live the Dalai Lama” and further called for the Tibetan spiritual leader to be allowed to return to Tibet when he was engulfed in flames.

Dhopo, son of Choepa hails from Jhakor division of Choeje-Ma Township in Nagaba County in the traditional Tibetan Province of Amdo.

Though the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA) headquartered in Dharamsala has repeatedly urged Tibetans not to resort to drastic measures such as self-immolation, the saga of fiery protests by the Tibetans continues.

Since Feb 2009, over 150 Tibetans have self-immolated in the Chinese occupied Tibet calling for freedom, an end to the Chinese occupation of Tibet and the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet.
