Chandrayaan-3: Dalai Lama congratulates India, declares it India’s ‘scientific and technological maturity’
DHARAMSALA, 24 Aug: The Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Thursday congratulated India on the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 lander module on the moon.
“The successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 is a tribute to the people of India who have devoted their attention to scientific development since ancient times,” the Dalai Lama has said offering hearty congratulations to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Applauding the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists on the historic feat, the Dalai Lama added that the ISRO head and his team’s dedication made the mission possible.
“They have demonstrated India’s scientific and technological maturity.”
“As the longest-staying guest of India, I rejoice at this great triumph,” His Holiness said, adding, “I am confident that the Indian Scientific Research Organisation will continue to strengthen its leadership role in further scientific endeavours.”
India’s Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the moon’s south pole at 6.03 p.m. on Wednesday, 23 August after a 40-day journey starting from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota on 14 July.
The successful moon mission has made India the fourth country to achieve a soft landing on the lunar surface after the US, China, and the erstwhile Soviet Union and the first country to reach the moon’s south pole.
Additionally, the ISRO live stream of Chandrayaan-3’s lunar landing has reportedly broken the world record of Spanish internet celebrity and streamer Ibai to become the most watched live stream of recent times.
