Dalai Lama reaffirms to live over 110 years
DHARAMSALA, 5 April: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his firm determination to live for at least 110 years as he attended a long-life prayer offering (tenshug) today at Tsuglag-Khang, the main temple here in Mcleod Ganj.
The tenshug began with the offering of the mandala and the threefold representation of the Buddha’s body, speech and mind to the Dalai Lama. His Eminence Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche led the long-life prayer ceremony as the Dorje Lopon.
The Dalai Lama briefly addressed the congregation and thanked the organising committee and his devotees and well-wishers across the world for their unwavering devotion as he accepted the long-life prayer offering.
Acknowledging the single-pointed faith and devotion of the sizeable Tibetans in exile as well as the majority of Tibetans inside Tibet, people from Himalayan regions, Mongols and people from mainland China and his followers and devotees spread across the world, the octogenarian Tibetan leader said that he practises Bodichitta and added that he has a deeply rooted Karmic connection with them.
Declaring that he is in good health, the octogenarian Tibetan leader said, except for slight discomfort in his knees, he is healthy and can wrestle- drawing cheers and laughter from the congregation.
The Tibetan Nobel laureate then added that like his devotees who have been praying for him to live a long life, he too is determined to live over 110 years of age for the benefit of all sentient beings.
The long-life offering was offered collectively by students, staff and Ex-students of Tibetan Homes Foundation & CST Mussoorie along with Ex-Students and Ex-Vocational Trainees of CST Panchmari.
The 87-year-old Tibetan Nobel Laureate has previously spoken about his recurring dreams which indicated that he will live for at least 113 years.
Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, has already surpassed the first Dalai Lama, Gedun Drupa, the longest-lived Dalai Lama. The first Dalai Lama lived till 83 years of age(1391- 1474).
