Dalai Lama tops Watkins’ Spiritual 100 List for 2020
DHARAMSALA, 28 Feb: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama yet again topped the Watkins Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People – spiritual teachers, activists, authors and thinkers that change the world.
The Dalai Lama, placed at the top of Watkins’ 2020 list of the 100 Most Spiritually has now bagged the title for a record seven times now since its inception in 2011.
Watkins has stated that they were “highly selective in creating this list and that they did their best to remove candidates who spread messages that were hateful or intolerant”.
“Ultimately, this list is meant to celebrate the positive influence of today’s spiritual teachers,” Watkins has said as they announced their list for 2020.
Watkins bookshop in London, UK has maintained that they been encouraging spiritual discovery and providing seekers with esoteric knowledge for over 120 years.
They started publishing the 100 lists with the goal of celebrating the world’s living spiritual teachers since 2011.
The Tibetan Nobel Laureate also topped the list in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 while he was placed number two in 2011 and 2017 with his lowest ranking being at the third place in 2019 list.
Watkins’ list will come out in print in the Spring issue number 61 of Watkins Mind Body Spirit magazine on 29 February. The special magazine issue will have16 pages dedicated to interesting details, bios, photos and highlights about each person on the list.
The list has been compiled by taking into account several factors which includes among others the person being alive as of 1st January 2020, having made a unique and spiritual contribution on a global scale and requiring the person is frequently googled, listed in Nielsen Data, has a Wikipedia page, and is actively talked about on the Internet.
