His Holiness expresses sadness over South Korean ferry tragedy

DHARAMSALA, April 21: Immediately upon his arrival in Dharamsala after a successful teaching tour of Japan, the Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote a letter to the President of Republic of South Korea, Ms Park Geun-hye and expressed deep sadness at the loss of human lives as a result of South Korean ferry accident last week.

In the letter, His Holiness wrote: “it is especially distressing to know that among the passengers were 350 students from Danwon High School in Ansan, Seoul.  The loss of so many, so young is a tragedy that will be harrowingly painful to their families and friends.”

His Holiness offered prayers for the victims and expressed his condolences to the families of all who have lost their lives, to the President and the people of South Korea.
