HIs Holiness leaves for Manali, 22 August long-life prayer offering postponed

DHARAMSALA, 9 Aug: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama left Dharamsala today to head for Manali.

The Dalai Lama left Dharamsala-the defacto capital of exiled Tibetans earlier today in the morning for two weeks visit to Manali, almost 240 km away from here.

As the convoy of the Tibetan leader drove down from Tsuglag-khang, Tibetans and the followers of the His Holiness have lined beside the narrow roads of the hill town to get a glimpse of their spiritual leader.

The office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama announced the sudden trip by the Tibetan spiritual leader yesterday.

This morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama abruptly decided to visit Manali tomorrow, the office said in a notice it issued yesterday.

The Dalai Lama was earlier scheduled to pay a visit to Manali last year, but the visit couldn’t materialize owing to excessive rain and flooding in the region.

As it stands, the Tibetan Nobel Laureate will stopover for the night at Mandi tonight and proceed to Manali tomorrow where he will be staying at Von Ngari Monastery during his visit.

Further, the office of the Dalai Lama has also announced that the long-life prayer offering (tenshug) by five groups scheduled on 22 August at Tsuglag-khang, the main temple in Mcleod Ganj has now been postponed to 13 September 2019 because of His Holiness’s sudden visit to Manali.
