New Delhi to Beijing: Arunachal Pradesh an integral part of India

DHARAMSALA, Oct 25: India has resolutely dismissed China’s objection to US Ambassador’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, declaring the state as an integral part of India.
“The US Ambassador visited Arunachal Pradesh, a state which is an integral part of the country to which he is accredited. There is nothing unusual in it,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in response to remarks by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, according to Indian media reports.
Days after the US Ambassador’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, Beijing has lodged protest with both New Delhi and Washington over the envoy’s visit.
Beijing said visits like that of Verma would make the border dispute between India and China more ‘complicated’ and ‘sabotage’ peace in the region, reported The Times of India Oct, 24.
US Ambassador Richard Verma visited the northeastern state along with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal last week, following which he tweeted, “Stunning mountains and wonderful people. Terrific visit to Arunachal Pradesh for the Tawang Festival. Thank you Tawang for the hospitality.”
Adding more to Beijing’s displeasure, New Delhi has also cleared the Dalai Lama’s proposed visit to Arunachal Pradesh early next year, reports Deccan Herald, Oct 25.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu met the Tibetan Spiritual leader on October 9 and invited him to visit the state in March 2017.
