Tibetan monk from restive Ngaba region disappears after detention 

 

DHARAMSALA, 5 Aug: A Tibetan monk from Trotsik monastery in restive Ngaba county in the traditional Tibetan province of Amdo has disappeared after he was whisked away by the Chinese authorities.

“Konmay, the disciplinarian of Trotsik monastery in Ngaba county, was arrested by police around 20th July and remains in detention,” Kanyak Tsering and Lobsang Yeshi, the spokespersons of the exile seat of Kirti monastery here in Dharamsala said citing sources from the region.

The whereabouts of the 45 years old Tibetan monk, the charges on which he was arrested by the Chinese police remain unknown.

Konmay hails from Trotsik village and he was ordained as a monk at the Trotsik Monastery at a very young age.
