TSO Dawa Rinchen becomes first Tibetan to be inducted in Municipal Corporation Dharamsala

DHARAMSALA, Feb 3: DawaRinchen, the Tibetan Settlement Officer (TSO) of Dharamsala has become the first Tibetan to be inducted as a Municipal Councilor in the Municipal Corporation of Dharamsala.

16469035_1413707715340301_698849356_nThe Himachal Pradesh State government’s Department of Urban Development has formally nominated DawaRinchen as the Municipal Councilor in a notification issued on Thursday, according to a report by himvani.com.

“As a large number of Tibetan refugees are residing in Mcleodganj and other areas of MC Dharamshala, the inclusion of Dawa in the Corporation will help the community,” the spokesperson of the state government was quoted as saying in the report.

“Sudhir Sharma, the Minister of Housing, Urban Development and Town & Country Planning in the Government of Himachal Pradesh earlier briefed me about my nomination for the Municipal Councilor of Dharamsala,” DawaRinchen told Tibet Express and added, “I informed the Kashag and the Home Department of the Tibetan Administration about my nomination as well.”

DawaRinchen, the present TSO of Dharamsala has become one of the five nominated councilors. Apart from the five nominated councilors, Dharamshala Municipal Corporation also has 17 elected councilors from different wards. Dharamsala is the second Municipal Corporation of the Himachal after Shimla.
