TYC activists detained for storming Chinese embassy as protests staged worldwide on China’s National Day
DHARAMSALA, 3 Oct: As many as 73 activists from the Tibetan Youth Congress(TYC) were detained by Delhi police for storming the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi on the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
“The mere existence of the CCP is detrimental not just to Tibet and Tibetans, it also threatens the global peace and stability”, TYC President Gonpo Dhondup said as the activists from the largest Tibetan NGO in exile called staged a protest outside the Chinese embassy in the Indian capital on China’s National Day.
The activists from TYC called out China for its occupation of Tibet, arbitrary detention of Tibetans, the torture and brutality it inflicted on the Tibetans, China’s mismanagement of the pandemic outbreak in Tibet and China’s involuntary mass DNA collection across Tibet among others.
TYC activists shouted slogans such as “Free Tibet, “China stop the killing in Tibet” among others before there were detained by the police.
The 73 activists from Regional Tibetan youth Congress(RTYC) Rohini, RTYC Paonta Sahib, RTYC Dalhousie and RTYC Dharamsala were detained at Mandir Marg police station in New Delhi before there were released in the evening around 7 pm.
Meanwhile, exiled Tibetans and human rights activists also staged protests in many cities across the globe calling out China for its crime against humanity, human rights violations and atrocities.
