Tenzin Paldon crowned Miss Tibet 2017, final pageant under Lobsang Wangyal production

DHARAMSALA, June 5: Tenzin Paldon was crowned Miss Tibet 2017 at the grand finale held at Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) in Dharamsala.

Tenzin Paldon, 21 from Kollegal was declared winner of the 15th edition of Miss Tibet 2017 beauty pageant amid thunderous cheers and applause on Sunday night at the TIPA ground.

18945028_1545438972167174_965754538_nPaldon, who currently works as a cabin crew at Spice Jet Airlines edged out runners-up Tenzin Khechoe and Tenzin Nordon to take home the crown along with the tittle of Miss photogenetic as she bagged 5,161 online votes (36% of the total).

Tenzin Khechoe from Bangalore was declared the first runners-up and Tenzin Nordon from Chauntra, the second runners-up. The three winners were awarded Rupees one lakh, fifty thousand and twenty-five thousand respectively as prize money.

Along with the prize money, Tenzin Paldon and Tenzin Khechoe also won a two-week trip to Vietnam, sponsored by Claire Huynh Hong Hai.

Tenzin Charlie of Phurba International, a company based in Taiwan and Tenpa Dorjee from California sponsored the prize money of the winner and the first runners up respectively.

The 15th edition of the Miss Tibet pageant had a record number of nine contestants, the maximum number of contestants since the pageant started. Prior to this year’s contest, a maximum of six contestants competed in 2006.

18944405_1545439392167132_1816086266_nChemi Kyizom from Delhi, Migmar Dolma from New York, Saldon from Vienna, Tenzin Norzom from Manali, Tenzin Nordon from Chauntra, Tenzin Khechoe from Bangalore, Tenzin Paldon from Kollegal, Tenzin Yangkyi and Tenzin Yeshi from Bylakuppe took part in the Miss Tibet 2017 competition.

Lobsang Wangyal, the founder, producer and director of Miss Tibet announced that the 15th edition of the pageant will be the last to be held under Lobsang Wangyal Production.

“Having organized the pageant for 15 years, this will be the last Miss Tibet Pageant under my production.  I will now pass on the baton to a suitor who buys the copyright of the production,” Lobsang wangyal, the pageant director announced as he officially signed off from the pageant he started in 2002.
