Donald Trump vows to play hardball with China

DHARAMSALA, July 22: In yet another scathing remark against China, Donald Trump has accused China of stealing intellectual property rights and currency manipulation.
If Chinese foreign ministry’s furious reaction following remarks made against China at the Republican National Convention is any thing to go by, it would be of no surprise if China goes ballistic as Donald Trump has added more fuel to the fire by accusing China of stealing intellectual property rights and currency manipulation as he accepted the Presidential Nomination of the Republican Party.
Trump, an outspoken critic of the Chinese trade policies said, “he would stop China’s outrageous theft of intellectual property, along with their illegal product dumping, and their devastating currency manipulation,” in his acceptance speech at the convention in Cleveland according to a report on The Economic Times, July 22.
Specifically mentioning China’s World Trade Organization accession agreement, he said he would renegotiate trade deals with China, the report adds.
The businessman turned politician was particularly vocal about China’s cheating at global trade.
“Let me tell you something. China will behave and China will be our friend. We’ll do better under China with me and we’re also going to do better economically with me. They are going to respect our country again,” Trump was quoted as saying at an election rally on May 20, reports The Economic Times.
Trump being relatively new into politics, Chinese officials know little about him as compared to his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton who was the Secretary of the state during Obama’s first tenure.
