Young Tibetan monk arrested from restive Ngaba region
DHARAMSALA, 5 Oct: A young Tibetan monk from Kirti monastery in restive Ngaba county in the traditional Tibetan province of Amdo has disappeared after he was whisked away by the Chinese authorities.
“Sonam Palden, a 22-year-old Kirti monk has disappeared after he was hastily arrested by the Chinese authorities on 19 September from his monastic quarter,” said Kanyak Tsering and Lobsang Yeshi, the spokespersons of the exile seat of Kirti monastery here in Dharamsala said citing inputs from sources in the region.
The whereabouts of the Tibetan monk, the charges on which he was arrested by the Chinese police remains unknown,
While there were no information and details about him post his detention, it is being held that he was incarcerated allegedly for posting an article on the plight of Tibetan language on his we chat account, the the spokespersons said citing an acquaintance of the monk from the region.
Sonam Palden, son of kelgo hails from Chayul Tsonagtsang division of Ngaba county. He was ordained as a monk at the Kirti Monastery at a very young age.

Lobsang Dorje, another monk from Kirti monastery was handed three-years imprisonment by the Chinese authorities after a more than a year of incommunicado detention earlier last month on 3 September.
