Entire world needs to stand up to China: Mike Pompeo

DHARAMSALA,  22 July: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has urged “the entire world” to stand up to China.

“We think that the entire world needs to work together to ensure that every country, including China, behaves in the international system in ways that are appropriate and consistent with the international order,” Pompeo has said at a press conference flanked by his UK counterpart Dominic Raab,  the AFP reported.

The US Secretary of State has heavily criticised the Chinese regime for engaging in “a cover-up and co-opting” with the World Health Organization by allegedly suppressing early details of the coronavirus pandemic that he described as “preventable” which has resulted in 616,550 deaths globally.

He has further stated in the report that the Chinese Communist Party’s(CCP) “exploitation of this disaster to further its own interest has been disgraceful.”

“The CCP’s exploitation of this disaster to further its own interests has been disgraceful. Rather than helping the world, General Secretary Xi Jinping has shown the world the party’s true face.”

Calling out Beijing’s expansionist-design, the top US diplomat has accused China of bullying its neighbours and instigating a deadly confrontation with India.

“We talked about how we have seen Hong Kong’s freedoms crushed. We have watched the CCP bully its neighbours, militarise features in the South China Sea, and instigate a deadly confrontation with India,” he has added.
