DHARAMSALA, 26 April: The President of the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA), Penpa Tsering paid a courtesy call to US Special Coordinator for Tibet Uzra Zeya on Monday.
The CTA President who is presently on an official visit to the US was accompanied by the Representative of the Office of Tibet, Washington DC Dr Namgyal Choedup and the abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Zeekyab Rinpoche as the day also marks the 33rd birth anniversary of the 11th Panchen Lama, reports www.tibet.net, the CTA’s official website.
According to the report, the delegation has appealed to the Special Coordinator “to assist in resolving the Sino-Tibet conflict at the earliest and the swift return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet.”
Calls were also made for the “effective execution of the enrolment bill ‘HR1646’, which demands the US Ambassador to China to meet with the long-missing Panchen Lama of Tibet and confer religious rights awards to the latter to attain recognition,” the report added.
Additionally, the delegation has also called on the US Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Rashad Hussain “to celebrate the Panchen Lama’s birth anniversary, following the intercommunication with the Special Coordinator.”
The CTA President who arrived in the US on 24 April from Frankfurt, Germany will also interact with Tibetan youths and young professionals apart from talking about “the newly established V-TAG (Voluntary Tibet Advocacy), a platform created by CTA to engage Tibetan youth across the globe to advocate and lobby for Tibet.”
He will return back to Dharamsala from Canada where he will also interact with the youths and the Tibetan community.
