CTA launches year-long ‘Thank You India’ campaign

DHARAMSALA, Jan 19: Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) will launch a year-long ‘Thank You India’ campaign from Mar 31, 2018 to mark 60 years of Chinese occupation of Tibet and the beginning of the 60th year since His Holiness the Dalai Lama stepped on Indian soil as a refugee.

The President of the CTA, Dr Lobsang Sangay inaugurated the year-long ‘Thank You India’ campaign at a press conference held yesterday at the Press Club of India in New Delhi.

President Sangay described the ‘Thank You India’ campaign as a symbol of gratitude of the Tibetan people towards their host country.

The year-long campaign will formally kick-off with an interfaith meeting, which will be attended by the Dalai Lama at Rajghat, New Delhi on Mar 31.

The campaign will see a series of events like ‘Pray for India’ in May, ‘Towards Green India’ and ‘Towards Healthy India’ in June, ‘Feed the Hungry’ in July, ‘Towards a Clean India’ in October and ‘Cover the Cold’ in December across more than 20 cities in India.

President Sangay is also said to have cautioned India against China’s deceptive and expansionist policy at the press conference.

The Tibetan spiritual leader entered India on Mar 31, 1959 after the Chinese occupation of Tibet and Mar 31, 2018 marks 60 years of Chinese occupation of Tibet.
