Absurd claims by CCP’s top official in Tibet
DHARAMSALA, March 7: Wu Yingjie, the Party Secretary of the Communist regime’s so-called Tibet Autonomous Region has made a series of absurd claims at a group discussion session held on the sidelines of China’s rubber-stamp parliamentary meeting in the Tibet Hall of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The communist party Chief, began spewing his lies by insisting that Tibetan people feel more affection toward the Communist Regime than their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama while the fact remains that since Feb 2009, over 150 Tibetans have self-immolated in China occupied Tibet calling for freedom, an end to Chinese occupation of Tibet and the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet.
“The Dalai Lama hasn’t done a ‘single good thing’ for Tibet, the people of Tibet are instead extremely grateful for the prosperity that the Communist Party has brought them,” AP quotes Wu as saying in its report.
Wu has further said that there are no restrictions on Tibetan language and that Tibetans are encouraged to learn their mother tongue in addition to Mandarin, China’s dominant language but the Chinese authorities on May 22, last year sentenced Tibetan Language advocate Tashi Wangchuk for five years in prison on charges of ‘inciting separatism’ as he sought to promote Tibetan language education.
Though China has closed Tibet to overseas travellers over a period of several weeks ahead of two sensitive political anniversaries in Tibet earlier last month till April 1, Wu has audaciously claimed that Tibet is open to everyone and that the restrictions were necessary to protect the safety of the tourists owing to the high altitude of Tibet.
“A lot of foreigners are thankful for our concern,” Wu has said in the report.
Wu has further condemned the H.R. 1872, the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act, a bipartisan bill
Passed by the US in December last year that calls for denial of access to the United States for Chinese officials who design and implement travel restrictions on American journalists, diplomats and citizens from entering Tibet as “not tally with facts and interfering in China’s internal affair.”
Having developed his entire career in Tibet over the past four decades, Wu has come up through the Communist Party ranks in Tibet. Most notably, Wu has previously served as the Deputy Governor and Propaganda Chief.
He replaced Chen Quanguo as the CPC Chief of Tibet Autonomous Region, in August 2016. His predecessor later replaced Zhang Chunxian as the Party Chief in Xinjiang.
While it is being alleged by the activists and rights groups that China exports security technology from Tibet to Xinjiang after using Tibet as the regimes laboratory, Wu’s predecessor replaced Zhang Chunxian as the Party Chief in Xinjiang and later, he introduced a network of over 7,500 “convenience police stations,” described as “street-corner bulwarks for community-based policing,” a policy he had implemented in the Tibet Autonomous Region during his tenure as that region’s Party Secretary.
Additionally, as many as 2 million Uighur ethnic minority are estimated to have been imprisoned in huge detention centres by the communist regime in Xinjiang, according to a US government report.
